The products in the hot mirror series are therefore capable of removing much of the energy that causes heating in a lighting system. In addition, they can also be used as alternatives to KG1 filters, especially in situations where the light focuses near the filter, providing a cracking risk.

The products in this series reflect heat, rather than absorbing it, while the custom hot mirrors also come with a sharper cut off between the Visible and the IR, as they have a dielectric coating that users can control. Knight Optical, the manufacturer, also produces stock large sheets of 600mm, while custom units are available for visible applications.
